“The coach is incredibly experienced, and it shows in every piece of advice he gives... He is remarkably calm and friendly. I leave every session not only playing much better, but feeling more relaxed too.”
If you want to learn to play golf, you do not need to study every rule, buy a set of clubs or practise on your own beforehand. The best place to start is with a few essentials you will use for every shot: a sound grip, a good set-up and an understanding of how your body moves during the swing. At first, knowing what you are doing and why the ball travels in a particular direction matters much more than power or distance.
Learning to play golf in Wroclaw can begin with a single lesson, but the best results come from developing your skills step by step. Once you have the first movements under control, we introduce the short game, putting and longer shots. Later, you begin making decisions on the course: which club to use, how to assess the situation, how to stay safe and how to keep up the pace of play. This way, you learn not just how to hit the ball, but how to play golf.
I teach at golf facilities in Wroclaw and the surrounding area. As a PGA golf professional with 20 years of coaching experience, I adapt the order of exercises to each person's ability and progress. You can start from scratch, pick up where you left off or improve your technique if you already visit a golf course or driving range. I provide clubs and practice balls for your first sessions, so all you need is comfortable clothing and sports shoes.
We do not start by trying to hit the ball as far as possible. First we build the foundations that will help you develop every other part of your game. Below is a typical learning sequence, not a rigid timetable, because everyone progresses at a different pace.
1. Grip, stance and ball contact. You learn how to hold the club, set up to the ball and make a simple, controlled movement. We work on striking the ball cleanly and consistently. Even at this stage, I explain what affects the direction and height of your shots.
2. Putting and the short game. We practise rolling the ball across the green, controlling distance and playing short shots near the hole. These skills often give beginners an early sense of being able to handle a real golfing situation, rather than simply making an isolated swing.
3. The swing and longer shots. We develop your range of movement, rhythm and coordination between your body and the club. Rather than mechanically copying professional golfers, we find a technique that suits your abilities. Control and consistency come first; distance develops over time.
4. Rules and on-course etiquette. You learn when it is safe to play a shot, how to move around a golf facility, how to look after the course and how to maintain a suitable pace of play. We also go through common situations you will face during your first round.
5. Your first round on the course. Once you have the necessary foundations, we put your skills together in real play: from the tee, through the next shots, all the way to the green. This is a different skill from practising on the driving range, as you have to make decisions and adapt to changing situations.
You may hit your first good shots during your very first session, but learning to play takes time. Golf combines several skills: long shots, the short game, putting, knowledge of the rules and moving around the course. Your progress depends on how often you practise, your previous experience of physical activity and whether you revisit what you have learned between lessons.
I do not promise that everyone will play at the same level after a fixed number of lessons. For one person, the first clean contact with the ball may be a challenge; for another, the harder part is producing several consistent shots in a row. That is why we return to the fundamentals whenever necessary and only add new elements when the previous ones begin to work.
If you would like a structured introduction, the Easy Start package includes eight 45-minute lessons, taken two at a time during each visit. The Confident Start option includes twelve such lessons, plus 2.5 hours of play with a coach on a nine-hole course. Both programmes prepare you for the Golf Green Card exam. You can find details and prices in the price list below.
On the driving range, you usually hit one ball after another from the same spot. On the course, every situation is different: the distance, lie of the ball, hazards and target for your next shot all change. A good swing helps, but it is hard to enjoy the game without knowing how to choose a simple, safe option.
That is why I combine technique with practical play from the beginning. We discuss the differences between the driving range, the putting green and the course itself, learn the basics of the short game and practise sensible club selection. Over time, it also becomes important to stay calm and play the next shot well after a poor one.
If your goal is to play independently, your learning plan should also cover safety rules and golf etiquette. For more information about the formal requirements for playing on a golf course independently, see the Golf Green Card.
In an individual lesson, all my attention is on your movement, mistakes and needs. It is a good choice if you want to work on a specific part of your game or prefer to learn at your own pace. You can also come with a partner, friend or family member. You both practise, and I tailor the guidance to each person's skills.
You do not have to buy a complete course straight away. You can choose a single lesson or an introductory session, then decide how you would like to continue. If you already play and are looking for a one-off lesson or help with a particular technical problem, we can focus on exactly that.
If you are interested in learning golf but are not yet sure whether you want to practise regularly, start with the ‘Is Golf for Me?’ experience. Over 90 minutes, you will discover the basics of striking the ball, the driving range and the putting green. I will explain what further lessons involve, what is worth practising first and what progress you can realistically expect. Come on your own or with another person. Clubs and practice balls are included, and there is no obligation to book a course afterwards. What do you need to bring? Just a positive attitude!
For two people
This introductory offer can be booked only once. It is not an exam or a commitment to a longer course. If you decide you would like to carry on playing, we can choose the next lessons or a suitable learning package.
